Manicure Monday

I uploaded a video this weekend about a new (to me) brand of nail polish. Cult Cosmetics has their own subscription box of nail polishes. Check out their website and my video for more info.
I couldn't wait to try their polish so I immediately tried this Rasberry color.

The formula is amazing. It went on so smoothly and had great pigmentation. I'm pleasantly surprised with this brand. I'll try the other polishes and review them as well.

Customer Service: Part 1

When I walk in a store, most of the time I have an idea of what I'm going to buy. If I happen to get an amazing employee who is really helpful, it's crazy what I actually end up buying. My mom and I have always said, if your nice to us you can sell us just about anything. Customer service is very important to us.
Lately I've been dealing with the customer service at different stores and online. I think it's important to know how the customer service is before you invest money in their products.

Sephora and Ulta
This definitely changes every time I go into these stores. Sometimes I receive no help at all, which isn't necessarily bad, or I receive amazing help. I love when I stumble upon someone who is helpful and very friendly. I did spend a little bit more at sephora the other day when all I wanted to do was spend what was on my gift card. I've heard that sephoras return policy is pretty good. People say they use products and if they don't like it they return it. My mother in law bought some Dior eyeshadow for $60 and it irritated her eyes. She brought it back and she exchanged it for different eye shadows no questions asked. That's pretty impressive. I've never had to do that but I would try if this happens to me in the future.

Walgreens
I spend a lot of time checking out the makeup at Walgreens. I like checking on the sales and using coupons. There is normally an employee near the cosmetic area that is a "beauty expert."  I think that is a pretty loose term for a place like that but here is what they do. Basically they are just there to help you find products and check on prices at the checkout in the beauty department. One day the lady said something really interesting to me. She told me to make sure I check out at the beauty counter when I'm ready because she might have some extra coupons I could use. I was very intrigued. I was checking out and she pulled out this huge box of coupons from the manufacturers. She said they receive these all the time so always check out at the beauty counter to see if they have any coupons. I normally go to two different Walgreens and I've had the same experience at both places. I was super impressed by this and wanted to share it with every one.

Those are a few stores I use regularly and continue to go back due to their customer service. I'm going to write a part 2 of this which will include online stores. Hopefully it will be up on Tuesday.

Manicure Monday (a day late)

Sorry I didn't post this yesterday. I fell asleep after work and didn't get around to it.
On Sunday I decided to use a set of Sally Hansen nail effects in Kitty Kitty which is a leopard print. I love using these because they are so easy.

Tip:  I use one strip for two fingers. I just use half for a nail on one hand and the other half on the other hand. You can get two uses out of one package.

Manicure Monday

Since most stores are gearing up for spring fashion, you can find some great deals on winter fashion. Ulta is no exception. They are clearancing their winter nail polishes. I picked up 3 new polishes including this OPI from the Miss Universe Collection called: this Gown Needs a Crown. It's a satin finish so you don't use a top coat. It's such a pretty color.

I decided to give you guys a bonus this week and tried out some easy nail art. I wore the OPI polish for a day and then decided to add another color to it. This is an easy way to get longer wear out of a manicure.

I just used some painter tape and placed it diagonally on my nails. You can also use regular tape. I would suggest you make the tape less sticky by placing on your hand a few times so it doesn't ruin the polish underneath. Then you just paint the new color on and remove the paint carefully right away. If you wait until it dries, it could pull the new polish off your nails.
Tape is a great tool to use in nail art. Don't be scared, it's super easy.

OPI Liquid Sand

I'm a huge fan of shiney polishes so I wasn't sure if I would like some if the textured polishes. I finally broke down and bought an OPI Liquid Sand polish at Ulta $4.99. Ulta is clearancing some if their polishes from the winter collections.
I picked up Alcatraz Rocks which is a purple base with lots of different colored shimmers. I used a base coat and two coats of the liquid sand. You are not supposed to use a top coat.
I was pleasantly surprised that I enjoyed this type of polish. The only downside is that I use a fast drying top coat normally which dries super fast. The drying time is pretty average but definitely longer than the fast dry top coat.

Do you like textured nail polish?

Another Snowy Day Manicure

Since I've been off, I've had a lot of free time. I've done some organizing, cleaning out junk to donate and playing with beauty products. I have painted my nails 3 times since Friday out of sheer boredom and excitement to try new polishes. I'm so thankful that the mail still runs on snowy days because it was like Christmas yesterday. My husband and I both received packages from a few online orders. I received 3 new polishes. One was an OPI: Tomorrow Never Dies. I recently had a pedicure and this is the color I used. I loved it so much I bought it in eBay before my toes were dry. The other 2 are from Black Cat Lacquer. I posted a picture of both of them on my Facebook page (Asmithlovesbeauty).

I was so in love with Venus that I had to try it out immediately. It's a Tiffany blue polishes with some micro shimmer and a few larger hex glitters.

This polish was very easy to use and looks great. I'm very happy with my purchase. Go check out Black Cat Lacquer on their website. She puts out regular coupon codes. That's when I usually order my polish. I'll post her coupons on Facebook when I find them.

Monday Manicure

We have a few inches of snow on the ground which in this area means a snow day. I haven't been out of the house for two days because of the snow and crazy cold temperatures. I had to do a snow inspired manicure.
This was super easy with the help of a dotting tool. Pictured below.
Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear:  White On
Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure:  Water Color
China Glaze:  Bells Will Be Ringing

I also want to announce my new YouTube channel called Asmithlovesbeauty. I'll be uploading videos weekly on many different beauty related topics. Please subscribe to my channel.
